COVID-19 Safety Measures

Our Safety Measures at Niall O’Kane Optometrists

Safety Measurements in Practice

Your visit will look a little different. We have many safety measures in place to keep you and our staff as safe as possible, including :

- Enhanced cleaning procedures including all hard surfaces sterilised throughout the day

- Hand sanitising stations set up throughout the practice

- All staff continue to wear face masks

Who Can Visit?

  • Everyone - we have strict cleaning processes in place for everyone's safety. Feel free to pop in and browse at your leisure.

  • Patients needing new spectacles and sunglasses are welcome, with new and exciting ranges ready and waiting for you

  • Patients wanting a routine eye examination - especially patients who have a family history of eye conditions and all patients over 40

  • Patients needing emergency eye care will be given priority appointments and a specialist team are now providing a full, private eye casualty service, including prescriptions for eye medication

  • Patients who have purchased glasses or sunglasses from us and need repairs or fitting appointments can request an appointment with one of our dispensing team

A New Era of Eye Examinations

Routine tests will be replaced by appropriate and advanced examination techniques. The back-of-eye examination will be performed by 4D laser OCT scanning technology and digital retinal imaging (really fancy back-of-eye photographs and ultrasounds as used by NASA!). This will eliminate the need for your optometrist to get too close.

Technology Includes:

  • Heidelberg 4D Spectralis OCT

  • Goldmann Applanation Tonometry

  • Corneal Topography

  • Digital Video Slit Lamp Examination

  • Digital Phoropter Head

Taking Dispensing Digital

Digital dispensing allows us to take the most accurate and advanced measurements to create bespoke spectacle lenses - all whilst observing the 2m rule.
